The Story of Tennessee Homegrown

Tennessee Homegrown started in 2016, at Lee Crabtree’s farm in Readyville, Tennessee and now several years later we’re still naturally farming Hemp in Middle Tennessee, where we grow several Cannabis cultivars that are naturally rich in CBD. After years of researching various types of Medical Hemp, we’ve found those varieties that are ideally suited to the conditions of Middle Tennessee. Matching the right cultivar with unique terroir to produce beautiful Cannabis flowers. Tennessee Homegrown farms on pasture land that previously raised free range cattle and has retained its biological activity. We believe that any Cannabis crop used to consumed by people or animals should be grown without using insecticides, herbicides or micro- biocides. Tennessee Homegrown feels that it’s important that all fertilizers, amendments probiotics used to feed the soil are organic. This ideal combination of Sun, soil and organic fertilizer results in seedless Cannabis flowers of a superb quality. Then these naturally farmed Hemp flowers are harvested by hand at peak maturity. Which means daily, we walk the fields, looking at each and every plant checking the trichomes with a microscope to see when their flowers are in full bloom and have reached their complete potential.
Tennessee Homegrown then cures and processes this free-range sun kissed naturally grown seedless Cannabis, rich in CBD, to release all of it’s natural goodness. This is another aspect that we feel makes Tennessee Homegrown Hemp and Hemp products superior. Curing ensures that the beautiful, seedless Hemp flowers are slowly dried. This slow drying enables the sugars in their naturally grown Hemp buds to break down enough to release complex flavors while retaining as many terpenes as possible. This is why we feel that the curing process is so important and why Tennessee Homegrown hemp flowers are so aromatic. After drying and curing, these seedless buds are quickly stored at a controlled temperature in airtight containers.

At Tennessee Homegrown, we process our naturally grown seedless flowers into all of our products. After a lot of research, we developed a couple techniques, one using cryogenic ethanol for extraction and the other a technique that was perfected by Benedictine Monks in the late 13th century, using lipids. These two methods produce products naturally rich in CBD that taste great and work remarkably well. These techniques fit well with our philosophy of using time honored traditions while pursuing new technology to make simple, wholesome products that can be used as food and as medicine. This is why at Tennessee Homegrown; we're more farm than pharmacy.
